Animated Christmas Advert for Snow Socks

I produced the character designs, storyboards and illustrated the animation assets for this Christmas marketing campaign video.

Universal Multigrip are one of the latest automotive products being brought to the UK by Workspace 1's client; they are anti-skid snow and ice wheel covers for cars and vans. Better known as snow-socks, they are a brilliant alternative to snow chains, they ensure maximum grip for your tyres and allow cars to travel more safely in the snow and ice.

Workspace 1 approached us to create a funny animated series “Meet the Harrisons’ based around an average and therefore slightly dysfunctional family! We started by creating two different character design concepts. The chosen style was then developed into storyboards and sent to Universal Multigrip for review. Once the storyboards were signed off, we began illustrating the graphics and assets for QuimbyCo to animate in After Effects.

Animation still.

The product launch was in time for the Christmas 2013 so the first episode was developed around the central concept of “Buy Dad a Pair of Socks He’ll Actually Wear This Year.” The emphasis was on entertainment to make sure the audience would relate to what they were seeing and want to seek out new episodes as and when they were released.

The animation was launched on YouTube and Facebook in (both full and 40 second versions) as well as the client’s website and rolled also out in France and Slovakia. Character images from the animation were used to create secondary promotional materials such as web banners, Facebook competitions and updates. At time of posting this ‘Christmas With The Harrisons’ 40 sec UK version had over 28,000 views.

What the client said

Animated Christmas Advert

Mair has a great reputation as a creative animator so I was delighted to have the opportunity to use her skills on one of recent projects. She did not disappoint! She showed tremendous flexibility in being able to meet a very tight deadline, as well as great technical skill and creativity.
