The Brief
The brief was open to interpretation. The video needed to be eye catching, fun and upbeat. So I started the project by offering the Environmental Services team two animation style options. They decided to go with the option on glossy vector style on the left.
The Storyboard
The next stage was storyboarding. As it was an open brief I created 3 storyboard ideas for them based on the information and outcomes they wanted from the video. We met and talked through the ideas, picking out the storyboard sequences they liked most, then I put together this final storyboard sequence.
The animation
After the storyboard was finalised, I began animating. I provided them with a weekly video update to see the progress of the video and request any changes or amendments. When the animation was completed, I delivered it as an on line video and a DVD so could be displayed on the University of Derby's website and used in presentation and played on display screens around campus.
The result
You can view the finished animation on the University of Derby's website or see the Environmental Services Animation on YouTube.
What the client said
Environmental awareness and campaign video
Mair was recommended to me by a colleague at the University. Having never commissioned an animation before I wasn’t sure what to expect but I am thoroughly impressed with both the finished animation and with Mair’s professionalism.
Mair took a very basic project brief (the work of the Environmental Services Team) and applied her creative flair to produce a series of storyboards which we were able to discuss and modify with ease. The whole process ran incredibly smoothly and all deadlines were met successfully, some of which were quite demanding!
I think the animation will really help us to achieve our project aim which is to encourage students to engage with the environmental agenda during their time at University. I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Mair for a job well done!
